What is codeBeamer Eclipse Studio?

codeBeamer Eclipse Studio (CBES) gives reflectivity and mobility to codeBeamer users. You can create and edit tasks, bugs, requirements, edit and commit code quickly without leaving Eclipse. You can do it online and offline.

With CBES, all these artifacts can be accessed from a single development environment. You can now take full advantage of the task-focused work provided by Tasktop, work faster with increased productivity, reduce the information overload, and focus only on what is relevant for your current tasks.

You are no longer locked to your task repository and SCM network access. Even while off-line, you can continue working on the code, create and modify tasks, requirements, bugs, and you can synchronize with your trackers and version control repositories as soon as the network access is re-established.

CBES's task list also provides sophisticated task scheduling.

As always, a picture is worth a thousand words, have a look at the plugin screenshots.

codeBeamer Eclipse Studio is built on the top of the popular Mylyn framework.

Travelling a lot? Frequently offline?
If you are a busy manager spending a lot of time on the plane, a member in a distributed team, a consultant working on the the customers' site, or a knowledge worker based in a cozy coffee shop, you will surely be interested in this.
codeBeamer Eclipse Studio with the MercurialEclipse plugin is an awesome combination for distributed, focused, offline working. Even when you are not connected to the network, you can work without interruptions. It is simple: just commit your source code changes with MercurialEclipse, and update your issues with MercurialEclipse. Next time you go online, you just push your code changes to the central repo. For issues, CBES will synchronize everything automatically.

How can I download the plugin?

You can get the plugin easily using the Eclipse Update Manager, just click HelpSoftware Updates in Eclipse. The Eclipse Update Site for CBES is available at this URL:
http://cbes.javaforge.com/update
CBES is normally bundled with the most recent version of the wonderful MercurialEclipse plugin, so please make sure you read this section. Important note for users of previous HgEclipse versions: if you have HgEclipse already installed on your Eclipse, please explicitely uninstall HgEclipse before installing MercurialEclipse 1.6.0. (This is necessary due to the plugin naming changes.) It's easy: in Eclipse, click HelpAboutInstallation Details → select HgEclipse → click Uninstall and confirm everything. Now you can install MercurialEclipse 1.6.0.

Important! In the "Install" dialog of Eclipse, please check "Contact all update sites during install to find required software". Otherwise you might have difficulties installing CBES if you have some earlier Mylyn versions (3.2) already installed.

If you are not familiar with getting new software and updates to Eclipse, please read this article.
